Who are we?

The McMaster Music Council is an organization dedicated to raising awareness of the music department at McMaster University, as well as providing a focal point for music-related activities on and off-campus. Run by students for other students, the council organizes public concerts, charity drives, and other fun events.

The council also attempts to bring the music department closer as a faculty, by hosting events where music majors (and non-music majors) from all over campus can mingle and get to know one another.

Where did we come from?

The idea for a "music council" was approached in early 2008 as a successor to the original Music Council, which disbanded due to financial strain. Within the next couple months, the McMaster Music Council was founded and gained MSU status shortly. This year was presided over by 4th year music majors Evan Campbell (Guitar) and Kasia Kucemba (Voice). The 2008-2009 academic year brought many firsts for the council, such as planning for the Christmas Concert, and the Student Composition Concert, a first for McMaster University. Other highlights included a "Coffee House" evening, multiple sports days, concert attendances, and charity acts.

The close of the academic year brought a new group of executives to the council, who will organize activities for the 2009-2010 academic year.
